eXpertSystem Startup Screen
eXpertSystem is easy to use once you understand it’s 3 Primary Modes and Interfaces: Author Mode, Viewer Mode, and eXpertLingo. So let’s begin by taking a look at the startup screen that appears when you launch eXpertSystem.

WHAT WOULD YOU LIKE TO DO?

A small screen lays on top of the main eXpertSystem interface and is designed to give you quick and easy access to any Mode. This window asks what you would like to do and presents 3 button options: Open Session, New Session, and Online Tutorial. Let’s take a closer look at each one of these options.

Open Session

1. The Open Session button takes you directly into Viewer Mode which allows you to:
- Open Sessions created in Author Mode. Session files end in the extension .exs
- Edit existing Sessions.
- Add pictures or perform word associations using eXpertLingo.
- View Session as a slideshow using the Slideshow Viewer.
- Print or share Sessions with others.

We'll cover the different screens that you will find in this mode, as well as walk you step by step through the process of opening an existing Session file. New Session

2. The New Session button will take you directly to Author Mode where you will be able to:
- Begin New Sessions using any of the eXpertSystem Topic Modules.
- Open and view Topic Modules that you currently have loaded into your system.
- Import new Topic Modules.
- Add content from the Topic Modules into your Sessions.
- Access Topic Edit Mode.

Online Tutorial

3. The Online Tutorial button sends you directly to the eXpertSystem online tutorial where you will find some helpful tips, tricks, and ideas on using the software.
